MOVE Roundtable
Honolulu, HI
The Kalihi neighborhood of Honolulu, has long been known as a neighborhood of beginnings: it is where new immigrants find housing and a foothold. But with four Skyline rail stops coming to Kalihi in the next few years, many changes are on the horizon. Move Oahu Forward, a local coalition focused on mobility and quality of life, convened a two-day Summit to explore how to navigate these changes while keeping Kalihi Kalihi.
Mpact:LAB worked with Move Oahu Forward to provide strategy and facilitation to inform the two-day Summit. Local elected officials welcomed a wide range of participants including city and county officials, representatives from the transit agency and utility company, neighborhood-based organizations, and community leaders and residents. From a community bus tour to small group discussions, from 10-year visioning to large group reflections, the Kalihi Summit wove together a movement and a promise to remain connected to Kalihi, and to one another, as development progresses.
