Local stakeholders in Charlottesville, VA, wanted a pathway for community engagement around transit decision making. But were not sure what this would mean in practice. They started with a question – should community members have an advisory role or an advocacy role?
Mpact:LAB, working with AARP Virginia, facilitated two strategy sessions one week apart with an array of stakeholders, from transit providers and riders to the local health district and community organizations. The sessions provided space to talk about community voice and establish several footholds about its importance. These, in turn, provide grounding for next steps.
