Southern Nevada
Southern Nevada, like many parts of the US, is car-centric. Much of the pedestrian infrastructure that does exist isn’t in good condition. Many sidewalks are too narrow, end abruptly or are not accessible.
In an effort to raise awareness of and improve these conditions, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) released their Regional Walkability Plan in 2022. AARP Nevada wanted to tap into this regional transportation work. Mpact:LAB facilitated a partnership between AARP Nevada and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and guided a conversation to identify a project they could collaborate on. Mpact:LAB worked with this local team to develop a new tool to help residents in Southern Nevada report sidewalks issues to the many jurisdictions who maintain pedestrian infrastructure.
