Mitali Gupta
Senior Transportation Manager, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (METRO)
Los Angeles, CA
As an immigrant from a developing nation, Mitali has long relied on public transportation as her primary means of getting around. Consequently, her current position at one of the nation’s largest transit agencies feels like a harmonious return to her roots. As a Senior Manager within LA Metro’s Mobility Corridors group, Mitali finds profound fulfillment in overseeing one of the nation’s most challenging and iconic bike projects, the LA River Path, an 8-mile gap closure active transportation project through downtown Los Angeles, with the promise of enhancing access to opportunity and choice of travel, for historically marginalized communities along the river. Before joining Metro, Mitali was a Senior Planner/Project Manager at HDR. There her engagements spanned an array of transportation planning endeavors at regional, corridor, and local scales, encompassing both rail and highway initiatives. Notably, she spearheaded the Pacific Coast Highway Study for the Orange County Transportation Authority. This multijurisdictional corridor study identified potential multi-modal transportation improvement opportunities along PCH in Orange County. Mitali received her graduate degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University, New Jersey. She is both a certified planner and a sustainability professional.
