Lex Powers is SEPTA’s first Director of Service Information Design, where he oversees the redesign of SEPTA’s wayfinding system – from signs to maps, apps and websites, nomenclature to data feeds – using a planning process that is heavily research based and data driven, involving thousands of riders, employees, and stakeholders. The project includes the unification of SEPTA’s Rail Transit network under the “SEPTA Metro” identity, and developing a vocabulary of consistent symbols and terminology to make navigation easier, regardless of language, ability, or familiarity. Lex received a Master of City Planning (MCP) from the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design.
