Kersten Elverum

Kersten Elverum is the Director of Planning & Development for the City of Hopkins.� In her 24 years with the City she has been involved in a variety of housing and economic development activities focused on preservation, rehabilitation and redevelopment. Hopkins developed as a stand-alone city, fueled by farming and industry, and is fortunate to have an authentic downtown.� Many strategies have been used to keep Mainstreet vibrant, including a transition from car-dominated uses to arts and entertainment through zoning and city-led redevelopment.� Hopkins has all the elements that a great place needs (location, walkability, diverse housing and employment) and now has the incredible opportunity of light rail transit.� My passion – take something that is good and make it fantastic.
