Jonathan Rewers

Chief Strategy Officer, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA)
San Francisco, CA

Jonathan Rewers is determined to impact the world and the universe of cities by helping them design new operational models for the future, incubating the next generation of solutions, and developing actionable policies critical to our collective future. He looks to have a social impact through humility, fresh thinking, collaboration, and public service. Jonathan’s expertise spans urban design, transportation, sustainability, and innovative management practices. Notable was his leadership in the development of Sacramento’s first sustainability master plan, ‘Creating a Sustainable City,’ which has set a precedent for environmentally conscious city development and operations. As faculty at Parsons School of Design, Jonathan lectured in areas spanning design, innovation, and behavioral economics. His current work includes a 4-acre development at the Potrero Yard in San Francisco using a unique public-private partnership to develop an integrated electric bus facility and affordable housing, the first development of its kind. In addition, he is also working with his team on a federally funded project to see how to attract ridership back to public transport and grow it by completing the transit industry’s first future’s forecast with the Institute of the Future.
