James “Abe” Zumwalt

James �Abe� Zumwalt is the Director of Policy Research at the Rail Passengers Association. He has worked for the association for six years. He received B.A. degrees in Economics and in French from Knox College (Galesburg IL) in 2011. In addition to wearing the many hats running a small not-for-profit advocacy group entails, Abe generally consults on elements of NARP’s programmatic efforts concerning regional transit and station area developments and conducts literature reviews of current academic studies concerning the impacts of intercity transit, especially in the field of economics. Last, but not least, he practices what he preaches: gaining familiarity with different practices in intercity transit operation through first-hand experience.
