Anna Lynn Smith is Amtrak’s Vice President of Strategy and Planning. In this role she guides the development of Amtrak’s overall strategic vision and works across departments to identify improvements for Amtrak’s national network and assets. Anna Lynn is also part of the team advancing the growth of Amtrak’s route network, including the development and maintenance of Amtrak’s strategic plans such as the long-range plan, five-year plan, and annual operating plan. She also oversees the efforts of Amtrak’s Commercial Services and Sustainability Teams.

She joined Amtrak after nearly 30 years in transportation consulting, successfully leading a variety of transportation projects for railroads, transit agencies, metropolitan planning organizations and departments of transportation throughout North America. Her areas of expertise include capital and long-range planning, corridor studies, master plans and policy development for multiple modes of transportation including bus, light rail, commuter rail, and intercity passenger rail.

Anna Lynn received bachelor’s degrees in Civil and Architectural Engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Operations Management and Marketing from Villanova University. She is a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
